Three Envisioners made the trek to the Conscious Capitalism Chicago chapter’s quarterly evening event and CEO breakfast with guest David Emerald. David is a speaker, workshop leader, author of The Power of TED* (*The Empowerment Dynamic) and the co-founder of the Bainbridge Leadership Center.
During the evening event, David led an enriching discussion around creating engaged, innovative, and resilient workplaces and his book The Power of TED* (*The Empowerment Dynamic). The Power of TED framework is widely used in organizations around the world to facilitate teamwork and productivity. Employees – regardless of position or title – can make the shift from victims, persecutors and rescuers to the more useful roles of creator, challenger and coach.
The CEO breakfast dove deeper into the discussions from the evening prior. Attendees shared their experiences and examples of when they found themselves in the Dreaded Drama Triangle (DDT) as the victim, persecutor and rescuer. Then they discussed the same situations using the alternative TED* roles of creator, challenger and coach. The shift from the DDT to TED* encourages the Creator to be focused on the desired outcome, the Challenger to focus on growth and learning while building others up rather than criticizing or controlling them, and the Coach focuses on compassion and helping develop a vision for the Creator rather than using ‘rescuing’ actions.
